The show
Last weekend saw my first show take place at Belper Arts Trail. It was nice to meet and make friends, new and old and also earn a little cash. The owner of Cocoa Cafe wanted to keep some of my art on his walls permanently, and it is great to say that sales have started already.
I have now focused down on what is really of interest and am going to push my attention in that direction for now.
Millie competed and framed
Our old golden Labrador, Millie. Drawn in Polychromos coloured pencils on drafting film. Framed and finished. Commissions of this size are currently a very reasonable £395 as of April 2025, unframed.
A final practice session before the show
It’s been a while since I did some drawing so I am in the process of drawing Millie. Millie was our Labrador, who we sadly lost a few years ago. I am going to have a separate table at Belper Arts Trail 2025, where I will be offering commissions. This drawing is done on drafting film with top quality Polychromos pencils. I have now finished my Belper Arts Trail 2025 portraits and am working on a few pet portraits to take with me. I shall be in Cocoa Cafe, Strutt Street Belper 4th and 5th May 2025.
Belper Arts Trail
Belper Arts Trail will be taking place 4th & 5th May 2025. My exhibit will be in Cocoa Cafe, 2 Strutt Street, Belper. Lots of paintings for sale, and the opportunity to commission pet drawings.
Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy
1989 saw AC/DC headline the Monsters of Rock, Castle Donington. Alongside Van Halen and Dio, was Ozzy. Given 2025 will be his last show, I thought I would paint some “fan art”. Still a way to go yet.
God save the Queen
In 1986 I went to Wembley Stadium, London to see Queen, supported by Status Quo, INXS and The Alarm. This is an oil painting of Freddie Mercury in his famous yellow jacket from that “It’s a kind of magic” tour.
Something different
I don’t paint many landscapes, this is Staithes near Whitby. Its ended up on my wall, a present for my wife.
Bridge over the Derwent
I have finished another painting for Belper Arts Trail 2025. This is the bridge over the Derwent at Kedleston Hall, Derby. Painted in oils.
Working hard for the show
